Hello Friends,
It has been a looooong time since I posted. The saying “time flies when you are having fun” certainly applies to my case. Although I have been away from blogging, I have been productive in the stitching department. I have smocked two dresses for Christmas; made a wedding quilt; made a baby quilt; finished the three quilts I started on the Civil Quilt Cruise; two other full size quilts that are awaiting binding; applique BOM (still in progress), and an embroidery BOM (still in progress).
This is the quilt I have hanging as my Christmas quilt this year. The feathered star is machine pieced and hand quilted. I was SO upset with quality of the handquilting that I let it sit for several years while I recovered from my disappointment before finally putting the binding on it last week. My daughter was home for Thanksgiving. She started on one side of the quilt and I on the other, we stitched and talked, and stitched, and talked until the binding was complete. So much fun when you share the task.
Christmas decorations are up (thank you daughter for your help); cards completed and mailed. I was determined to enjoy the Christmas season stress free. At least I have a head start on it.
Christmas Trivia that you may or may not know:
“Silent Night” was first performed at Saint Nicholas Church near Salzburg Austria, December 24, 1818.
In Charles Dickens’ “Christmas Carol” published December 17, 1843, Scrooge’s one time fiancee was named Belle.
The first public reading of the “Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens took 3 hours.
Charlie Brown Christmas has been televised every year since 1965 ~ many of us can attest to that fact!
The first year for a Macy’s department store Santa was 1870.
Stay tuned for me Christmas trivia.
